Geometric Inspection of the Lower Base

A metrology inspection was carried out on the lower base of group G2, which is currently being machined. The main objective was to check the geometry of critical components, particularly the labyrinths and the stay vane housings, and to compare these measurements with those of the upper base.

The measurements were taken using a laser tracker, with the reference frame aligned to the points provided by the client. All data was corrected to a reference temperature of 20°C. Despite certain constraints related to the support of the part, satisfactory measurement accuracy was achieved.

The middle and lower labyrinths were measured in detail, revealing cylindricity deviations of 0.043 mm and 0.059 mm, respectively. The 24 stay vane housings on the lower base were also measured, and their positions were compared to those previously measured on the upper base.

The comparative analysis showed minor deviations, both radially and tangentially, ensuring good alignment between the two bases, which is essential for optimal stay vane performance.

All required points were successfully measured, and the data was integrated into the machine coordinate system of the group, in accordance with the client’s specifications.
